Recommendations and technical specifications for sustainable surveillance of zoonotic pathogens where wildlife is implicated

چکیده
A science-based participatory process guided by EFSA identified 10 priority zoonotic pathogens for future One Health surveillance in Europe: highly pathogenic avian influenza, swine West Nile disease, tick-borne-encephalitis, echinococcosis, Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever, hepatitis E, Lyme Q-fever, Rift Valley fever. The main aim of this report is to formulate recommendations and technical specifications sustainable coordinated health early detection these where wildlife implicated. For purpose: (i) first, we reviewed the cornerstones integrated monitoring that are applicable disease under OH EU; (ii) analysed characteristics groups selected relevant aimed at detection, with other compartments; (iii) proposed general first steps EU, (iv) specific risk based wild species groups. We finally a framework integrating animal components (wildlife, domestic, environment) approach.

Capacity building efforts and perceptions for wildlife surveillance to detect zoonotic pathogens: comparing stakeholder perspectives
BACKGROUND The capacity to conduct zoonotic pathogen surveillance in wildlife is critical for the recognition and identification of emerging health threats. The PREDICT project, a component of United States Agency for International Development's Emerging Pandemic Threats program, has introduced capacity building efforts to increase zoonotic pathogen surveillance in wildlife in global 'hot spot'...
متن کاملSustainable control of zoonotic pathogens in wildlife: how to be fair to wild animals?
Wildlife may harbour infectious pathogens that are of zoonotic concern. However, culling such reservoir populations to mitigate or control the transmission of these pathogens to humans has proved disappointingly inefficient. Alternatives are still in an experimental stage of development. They include vaccination, medication, contraception and environmental manipulation, including fencing and bi...
متن کاملPredict: surveillance and prediction for emerging pathogens of wildlife
Nowhere in the world are the health impacts from emerging diseases of wildlife more important than in developing countries, where daily work and livelihoods are highly dependent on natural resources. Many of these same countries have little to no capacity for detecting disease emergence in wildlife and domestic animals prior to spread to humans. While the linkages of human, animal, and environm...

15 صفحه اولSurveillance for zoonotic diseases
Zoonotic infections (zoonoses) involve pathogens that are sustained in animal populations but can be transmitted to and cause disease in humans. Zoonoses encompass some of the most ancient communicable diseases, such as rabies and plague, as well as newly recognized emerging infections, such as hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). A recent review of ...
